Therapeutic Services at the Wyoming Life Resource Center

Experienced physical, occupational,  and speech therapists at WLRC specialize in the care and treatment of persons with significant physical and intellectual disabilities.   Each of these specialists assess the needs of each person admitted for service to one of the residential programs.  Individual therapy regimens are implemented for each person.  In addition to traditional forms of therapy, the regimen often includes Watsu or Bad Ragaz aquatic therapy conducted in one of the three therapeutic pools on campus.   Many persons benefit from horse therapy offered in the indoor riding arena or on the grounds.  The greenhouse offers an opportunity for horticulture therapy as well as just the joy of  being involved with growing plants.
The Therapeutic Equipment Shop on campus customizes wheelchairs and adaptive equipment for clients in residence and in the community through outpatient services and outreach clinics.
In 2006 planning is underway to make all of the therapies available on an outpatient basis to non-resident community persons who need the very specialized services available at WLRC.
